The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is deeply concerned about the 2 million civilians in northeastern Syria, who have already survived ISIS brutality and multiple displacements. A military offensive could immediately displace at least 300,000 people and disrupt lifesaving humanitarian services - including the IRC's.
The IRC calls on the government of Turkey to halt the military offensive before it escalates further and for all parties to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and ensure they are spared from the worst effects of conflict.
The IRC has been delivering aid in Syria since 2012, and last year IRC and partners delivered services to over a million people in the country. The IRC and partners are providing healthcare, cash, and other vital services to thousands of people.
