Malnutrition is treatable. In fact, it costs just £7 to purchase enough nutritious food for a malnourished child to eat for a week.
After experiencing its worst drought in 40 years, East Africa has recently experienced so much rain that it is contending with flooding. Livestock is dying and crops have been destroyed which means loss of income and not enough food for children. Thousands have already died from starvation with many more at risk.
Treating malnutrition is vital but for millions of families in crisis-affected areas, critical health services and resources are inaccessible. IRC health teams provide important medical care and nutritional support for children in need.
