A home can mean many things. Warmth. Good food. Family. It is where many of us go to feel safe and be with the ones we love. But in many places around the world, this sense of home can be taken away in an instant.
In Venezuela, families are leaving their homes every single day due to violence and economic collapse. With extreme hyperinflation gripping the country many are no longer able to afford food, rent, transportation or medicine. Hospitals are short of qualified staff, and can't access the supplies sick people desperately need. The UN estimates that 94% of Venezuelans are living in poverty.
This Christmas, you can give these people a sense of shelter and protection, despite their surroundings. The IRC has been supporting partners in Venezuela since 2018, delivering vital health care to pregnant women, including telemedicine (remote) services and access to basic medicines. We are also providing delivery kits for mothers who are about to give birth to bring to the hospital.
Help us give these families lifesaving support and a better start to 2020. Home may be far away for refugee and asylum-seeking families, but because of you, rescue is close by.
